DIY zero waste lip scrub recipe

The easiest zero waste DIY scrub there ever could be! Just combine sugar and oil, then mix to go!

Do you get chapped lips in the cooler months? Try this oh-so-simple and effective two-ingredient lip scrub recipe that can be whipped up in under a minute with pantry staples!

I love the combo of sugar and oil in this simple, natural scrub which can be used on your lips, face and all-over. The sugar is a gentle yet effective natural exfoliant, and the combination with the oil leaves your skin feeling refreshed and soft.

I used raw sugar I had on hand in the pantry though any sugar will do! Raw is more abrasive so go softer when scrubbing. I combined with a lug of olive oil also from the pantry. Both ingredients can be bought zero waste from a bulk food store by refilling your own jar and bottle.

This recipe makes enough for 2-3 of lip scrubs (or a couple of face scrubs) and is designed to be prepared and used as you need it as it doesn’t have any preservatives. Use the rest in the shower for your whole body, or soak and then use on your feet.

diy natural lip scrub ingredients:

1 teaspoon of sugar, any kind.

1.5 teaspoon of liquid oil, I used extra virgin olive oil.

you’ll need:

A small bowl or ramekin.

A teaspoon.

method

Add the sugar to the small bowl. Add the olive oil, I didn’t bother measuring TBH… just a little splash!

Mix them together and you’re ready to scrub! Um, could this be any easier?

I’d love to hear if you try it out, and what your favourite go-to natural scrub is!
